The model is based on Kirishima as she appeared during the Third Battle of the Solomon Sea in 1942, faithfully recreating her late-war configuration. Notable details such as the significantly shortened mast top and the direction-finding loop antenna installed atop the bridge are accurately reproduced.

The included stickers feature wood deck textures, the chrysanthemum crest, emergency rudder markings, bridge windows, searchlights, and other fine details. A dedicated name sticker for Kirishima is also included. For enhanced display, a separately sold display stand can be used.
