The second-generation Subaru Impreza, introduced in 2000, continued the legacy of its high-performance WRX STi model, built for the World Rally Championship (WRC). This powerful version, first seen in the original model, received a major exterior redesign in 2002, evolving into the Applied C version, commonly referred to as the "tear-eye" model. Subaru Tecnica International (STi) equipped the WRX STi with an equal-length exhaust manifold, enhancing its performance.

In 2005, another significant facelift transformed it into the Applied F version, also known as the "hawk-eye" model. This long-lasting model remained in production until the full model change in 2007, cementing its place as a favorite among enthusiasts.
