From Fujimi comes the 1/700 FH25EX1: Imperial Japanese Navy Aircraft Carrier Hiryu Special Edition (Full-Hull Plastic Model with Etched Parts) — a premium reissue of the classic Imperial Navy series, now enhanced with photo-etched details for superior realism.

This full-hull kit accurately reproduces the iconic aircraft carrier Hiryu, allowing builders to display the entire vessel, including the section below the waterline. A display stand is included for elegant presentation. The lower hull is molded as a single piece, with propellers and rudders provided as separate components for precision and realism.

In addition to standard parts, this edition includes newly tooled precision 25mm machine guns (triple, twin, and single mounts) with separate barrels and frames. The Type 96 25mm guns use a two-piece design, making it easier to paint the metallic gun barrels and hull-colored mounts distinctly. The aircraft parts are molded in gray for improved usability, replacing earlier clear parts.

Also included is a full decal sheet featuring Hinomaru insignias, flight deck markings, and national flags for historical accuracy. Most notably, this Special Edition features a set of finely detailed photo-etched parts that allow modelers to recreate elements difficult to replicate in injection molding — such as handrails, ladders, masts, wind deflectors, anti-fall fences, boat davits, and cranes.
