From Fujimi comes the 1/72 Nakajima Carrier-Based Attack Aircraft Tenzan (Type 11/12/12A) — a reissued model kit that allows builders to assemble one of three distinct versions: the early Type 11, the standard Type 12, or the radar-equipped Type 12A.

Developed by Nakajima as the successor to the Imperial Japanese Navy’s Type 97 Carrier Attack Aircraft, the Tenzan became a key aircraft during the later years of World War II. Initially equipped with Nakajima’s “Mamoru” engine, the Type 11 entered service in August 1943. Later, the more reliable “Kasei” engine was introduced in the Type 12, adopted in March 1944, and accounted for most of the Tenzan’s production. The Type 12A further improved upon this design by incorporating radar (Model 3 Airborne Radio Telephone Type 4), enabling night missions.

This 1/72 scale glue-assembly model captures the distinct features of each version with precise molding and reduced part count for ease of construction. Builders can choose among the three engine cowling designs and corresponding exhaust systems — the grouped exhaust for Type 11 and single exhaust for Type 12. The radar parts for the Type 12A are also included, accurately representing the antennas on the fuselage and wings.

Other highlights include recessed panel lines, separate transparent parts for canopy and side windows, and multiple optional armaments such as 60kg, 250kg, and 500kg bombs, aerial torpedoes, and smoke dispensers. The set also includes decals tailored for each model type with accurate unit markings.
