Fujimi’s 1/700 Wave Series brings the legendary Japanese Navy Aircraft Carrier Akagi to life, complete with an ocean base that realistically depicts her cutting through the waves. This kit captures Akagi as she appeared during the December 1941 Pearl Harbor attack, using pre-colored parts molded in authentic Yokosuka Naval Arsenal grey and other tones to replicate her historical appearance without the need for painting. The snap-fit design makes assembly simple, and the ocean base features sculpted bow waves, wake, and propeller turbulence for an impressive display straight from the box.

The model is richly detailed from bow to stern, with separate parts for the steel and wooden sections of the flight deck, finely engraved planking, intricate truss structures, and realistic fittings such as anchor chains, cranes, and support pillars. The island structure is precisely molded with slide tooling, while armament details like the twin 20 cm guns capture even the texture of their protective canvas covers. The included air wing features nine aircraft—three each of the Zero, D3A “Val” dive bomber, and B5N “Kate” torpedo bomber—molded in appropriate colors with markings provided as both stickers and decals for easy finishing.

Additional touches include high-quality marking seals for deck lines, linoleum walkways, and hull details, plus newly researched and accurate flight deck white line patterns in this latest production run. With 25 runners and seven molding colors, the completed model measures approximately 396 mm long, 134 mm wide, and 66 mm tall including the base. This combination of historical accuracy, refined detailing, and dynamic presentation makes it a standout addition to any naval collection.
