This 1/700 scale plastic model kit from Fujimi recreates the aircraft carrier Taiho as she appeared during her completion and through the Battle of the Philippine Sea. The kit features a sculpted wooden flight deck, newly tooled parts, and precision detailing across the hull, bridge, and weapon systems. The hull is molded as a one-piece waterline model with fine engravings, including recessed portholes and integrated anchor chain plating. The model includes newly designed parts such as finely detailed radar arrays, late-war 25mm triple AA guns, binoculars for the command post, and a newly tooled imperial chrysanthemum crest for the bow. Aircraft elevators can be built in either raised or lowered positions, and realistic structural truss details are present beneath the flight deck.

This reissue also includes updated decals for aircraft markings, nameplate lettering, and deck lines, as well as 16 aircraft representing four types used during the Mariana engagement (Zero 52, Zero 21 with bombs, Suisei, and Tenzan), all with separately molded propellers, fuel tanks, and bombs. The ship’s lifeboats, cutters, and weaponry are thoughtfully divided into paint-friendly parts, and the wooden flight deck is reproduced as a single-piece sculpted component. With molded-in gray parts, snap assembly compatibility, and a wealth of modern enhancements, this is one of the most detailed representations of Taiho available for modelers and naval history enthusiasts.
