1/700: Special 50EX-3 - Japanese Navy Aircraft Carrier Zuikaku (With Etched Parts) (Plastic Model) [Fujimi]

Fujimi presents the 1/700 scale Special 50EX-3 model of the Imperial Japanese Navy Aircraft Carrier Zuikaku, now enhanced with a detailed photo-etched parts set. This kit recreates the Zuikaku as she appeared in 1944, during the final stage of her service, with key upgrades faithfully reproduced.

The model reflects the late-war outfitting of Zuikaku, including the addition of triple-mounted 25mm anti-aircraft guns at the bow and stern, a Type 21 radar, and rocket launchers. The flight deck is molded in one piece, with separately molded parts for the elevators, ensuring detail and depth. Engraved features on the deck include wood paneling texture, deck joints, and arrestor system mounts. Other components such as windbreaks and the Type 21 radar array are also recreated with separate parts.

The kit includes four types of carrier-based aircraft, each provided in sets of two:

- Mitsubishi A6M Zero Type 21
- Mitsubishi A6M Zero Type 52
- Nakajima B5N Type 97 (Kate)
- Nakajima B6N Tenzan (Jill)

Aircraft are built from individual parts for the body, landing gear, tail gear, canopy, and propeller. Ordnance is also included as separate parts depending on the aircraft type, allowing for realistic customization.

The included photo-etched parts allow for ultra-fine detail where injection molding falls short. These include:
