Fine Molds presents a 1/35 scale plastic model kit of the Type 97 Field Cooking Set, faithfully recreating the essential food preparation equipment used by the Imperial Japanese Army during World War II.

True to the old saying “an army marches on its stomach,” the Japanese military placed significant importance on field meals. While individual mess kits were standard, large-scale cooking gear capable of preparing up to 300 meals per hour was also used in the field. This kit includes detailed parts for traditional field cookware such as ovens, kettles, and large ladles. It also features the Type 97 Water Boiler cart—a mobile unit used for boiling water to provide warm food and drinks, prevent water from freezing in cold regions, and sterilize supplies.

The set also includes three expressive soldier figures: one cooking with a ladle at the stove, one slicing pickled radish with a knife, and one drawing hot water from the boiler into a bucket. A wooden ration box designed to match 1938 military packaging standards is also included for added realism.
