Fine Molds presents a 1/35 scale plastic model of the Type 3 Medium Tank "Chi-Nu" (Long Barrel Type), a concept upgrade developed late in World War II by the Imperial Japanese Army to improve firepower against advancing Allied armor.

The standard Chi-Nu, introduced in late 1944, was equipped with a tank gun adapted from existing field artillery. However, it was still at a disadvantage against the Allied M4 Sherman in terms of range and power. To address this, a more powerful long-barreled 75mm gun (Type 5 7.5cm tank gun) was proposed to give the Chi-Nu greater engagement range and anti-tank effectiveness. Modifications to the gun mount were considered as part of this enhancement.

This kit reproduces that upgraded version with newly designed parts and thorough research. It includes a glue-together plastic track system with realistic sag, and the main gun is accurately sculpted with breech detail. A rich selection of decals is provided for “what-if” homeland defense scenarios, allowing modelers to imagine how this tank might have appeared in a final defense of Japan.
