The 1/700 Special Series No. 35 EX-1 - Imperial Japanese Navy Aircraft Carrier Akagi model kit by Fujimi features a one-piece hull structure with detailed portholes, hangar sidewalls, and a rear-sloping shape. The flight deck is a single-piece structure with fine carvings, including wooden plank details, windbreak fences, and expansion joints. The rear double-layered deck and elevators are molded as separate parts for added accuracy.

Additional detailing includes anti-slip textures on the anchor chain and short boat decks, precisely carved strip patterns on the high-angle gun mounts, and four-sided sculpted truss pillars supporting the flight deck. The chimney is a two-part structure, and the molding color is gray for the main parts, bottom plate, and machine guns.

The kit includes three decal sheets featuring aircraft markings, ship names, deck lines, flight deck insignia, and Midway Operation identification marks (Japanese flag). It also comes with 15 clear-molded aircraft (5 Zero Fighters, 5 Type 99 Carrier Bombers, 5 Type 97 Carrier Attack Bombers).
