The Japanese Navy Aircraft Carrier Zuikaku was a Shōkaku-class carrier, renowned for its significant role during World War II. Launched in 1939, Zuikaku participated in major battles, including Pearl Harbor and the Battle of the Coral Sea. As one of the Imperial Japanese Navy’s most powerful carriers, it carried numerous aircraft and had a large, well-protected flight deck. Despite its achievements, Zuikaku met its end during the Battle of Leyte Gulf in 1944. It remains an iconic symbol of Japan’s carrier force during the war, reflecting both innovation and resilience in naval warfare.

This kit includes pre-cut paper seals for signal flags, naval ensigns, and admiral flags, along with nameplate stickers for display. It faithfully recreates the Japanese Navy Aircraft Carrier Zuikaku as it appeared during the Battle of Leyte Gulf in October 1944. The etched parts cover detailed elements such as the rear deck, safety barriers, and arresting cables. The set comes with three Comet Model 11 aircraft, six Zero fighters (Models 21 and 52), and six Tenzan bombers. Additionally, it features 353 unpainted officer and sailor figure parts in summer and winter uniforms, with 11 different poses including standing, saluting, and manning weapons. Etched parts also replicate the outboard electric lines, and decals include deck markings and the national flag.
