The Japanese Navy Battleship Kii was a planned but never completed vessel, part of the "Kii-class" designed in the 1920s. This class was intended to combine the power and armor of a battleship with the speed of a battlecruiser, reflecting Japan's ambitious naval expansion during that era. The Kii was meant to be armed with 41 cm main guns and a top speed of around 30 knots, making it a formidable presence on the seas. However, the Washington Naval Treaty halted its construction, leaving the Kii as one of Japan's unrealized naval dreams.

This product represents the unrealized ship design with 51cm main guns, developed as an evolution of the Yamato-class battleships. The hull is molded in pre-colored parts mimicking green anti-submarine camouflage and outer hull color No. 22. The waterline split design allows for the construction of both waterline and full-hull models. The hull itself is divided into left and right parts, with recessed and raised window details for open and sealed portholes, respectively. External cables on the hull sides are intricately detailed, and the one-piece hull bottom eliminates the need for seam treatment. The bow’s bulbous section is accurately sculpted, and the 51cm main guns can elevate and rotate, with open-ended barrels for added realism. Secondary guns also rotate, and the dual-purpose anti-aircraft guns are specific to the Kii.

Other detailed parts include a precisely designed bridge using slide molds to minimize seams, with rotatable rangefinders and compass platforms. The funnel is composed of left-right assembly parts with detailed steam and whistle pipes, and the mast features integrated Type 13 radar. The included aircraft, molded in dark green, are two types: the Zero Type Reconnaissance Plane and Zero Type Observation Plane, with detailed panel lines and propellers. Stickers are provided for easy detail painting, including markings for the main and secondary gun waterproof covers, and camouflage-specific hull markings. A black display base is included for post-assembly display, along with bonus parts like ammunition boxes and etched metal components for those seeking additional precision, such as handrails, ladders, cranes, and over 200 intricate details.
