A special "Package with Display Background Paper" edition, released to commemorate the completion date of December 16, 1941! This edition includes a display background paper as a bonus, featuring a full-color illustration on one side and a monochrome photograph of the actual ship on the other. The U-shaped background measures approximately 141 x 556mm and adds a unique touch to the display. The model depicts the ship as it appeared upon completion in December 1941, shortly after the outbreak of the Pacific War. You can build both a waterline or full-hull model by separating the parts at the waterline. The design differences between the final version and the 1944 configuration are recreated using specialized parts.

The packaging features a photo of the actual ship from its October 1941 sea trials. The portholes are shown in their original state before being sealed for anti-sinking measures, with detailed parts for accuracy. The bridge also includes specialized parts to replicate the signal command post, a notable feature at the time of the ship’s completion.
