Ultra Magnus returns in the Transformers: Missing Link series, reimagined as if he had existed in the golden era of 1980s Transformers toys. This release by Takara Tomy faithfully revives the iconic character with brand-new engineering, added features, and a nostalgic presentation that bridges past and present.

Originally released during the Transformers 2010 era, Ultra Magnus became a fan favorite with his play value—a white Convoy-type robot combining with his carrier unit to form a towering warrior. The Missing Link edition completely redesigns him for modern collectors, incorporating die-cast parts while enhancing articulation to allow free posing even in combined form. The carrier can hold multiple Missing Link vehicles (sold separately) in car carrier mode, and also transforms into a repair bay, command base, or mobile battle station, just like the original toy.

This release goes even further by reviving the legendary “Powered Buggy,” originally bundled with Diaclone toys but never included with Ultra Magnus. Now reimagined as a fully transforming unit named Diastalker, it comes with its own Transformer character setting and can interact with Magnus. The restored chest protector includes wheels, allowing it to convert into Protector Machine, which also integrates with the main body for play. A human pilot figure in futuristic attire is included and can ride Diastalker or the Protector Machine.

Additional details complete the retro feel, such as a “Secret Emblem” that reveals the faction logo when warmed, display stand compatibility, and newly illustrated package art with a collector card. This Missing Link edition is both a homage and an upgrade, making Ultra Magnus a centerpiece for any Transformers collection.
