Blinding headlights drew closer. Just as Mamorukun thought he was about to be struck by a car, everything went dark—and when he awoke, he found himself in a strange new world.

“Hi everyone~! Welcome to the Netherworld!”

Before him stood Jigokudani Fururu, the shrine maiden of the Netherworld, who explained that she had summoned “chosen souls” to save her realm from an impending crisis.

Despite the protests of Mamorukun and the other bewildered boys and girls, Fururu continued her explanation: someone was attempting to open the gate to the Dark World, a calamity that had already placed a terrible curse upon the Netherworld’s inhabitants.

To break the curse and stop the gate from opening, the summoned souls must purify the residents and fight for the future of this realm.

“Now, brave ones! Work hard for the Netherworld!”

And so begins the battle of Mamorukun and his companions—summoned to the Netherworld in a desperate struggle to find their way back home.
