From Neon Genesis Evangelion comes a legendary sculpt reborn—Evangelion Unit-01 (Berserk Ver.), part of the ARTPLA Sculpture Works series by Kaiyodo, in celebration of the anime’s 30th anniversary.

Originally released as a garage kit during the show's original broadcast era, this figure was created by master sculptor Shinobu Matsumura, known for his bold artistic reinterpretations. While respecting the original design, Matsumura infused Unit-01 with a strikingly biological aesthetic—emphasizing muscle structure and visceral intensity without sacrificing detail. Even the angel base was designed with careful visual restraint, creating a haunting and impactful composition.

For this plastic model release, the original sculpt was converted into 3D data and resized to a commanding 230mm in height, with Matsumura himself refining the update. The kit includes swappable parts such as the exposed chest musculature and a hand gripping the iconic progressive knife.

A masterclass in sculptural storytelling, this reissue brings one of Evangelion’s most iconic moments back to life for new collectors and longtime fans alike.
