In an era when color pages were still rare, most of the illustrations are monochrome line drawings, but the pen-and-ink lines have a fluid and delicate quality reminiscent of shojo manga. The number of illustrations is enormous, with thousands of pieces never having been published in any of the related books published after Nakahara's death. This book, centered on Soleil, which is celebrating its 80th anniversary, is a collection of carefully selected original illustrations mainly drawn for the magazine, and the majority of the included works are being published in book form for the first time.
